Our 2007-2008 season kicks off with a panel of local professionals addressing the current trends and issues with competencies they see in today's workplace and how Training and Development professionals fit in to the big picture. Each speaker will present briefly on the topic followed by open discussion.

Amy Cell is the Director of Talent Management at Ann Arbor SPARK. This program is focused on talent-related initiatives, including programs to attract, develop and retain managerial, professional and technical talent that will drive innovative businesses in Washtenaw County. Prior to joining Ann Arbor SPARK, Cell served as senior associate director, Office of Student Life, at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. With 10 year’s experience in human resource management, Cell has extensive experience and expertise.

Cell earned a bachelor of business administration and master of business administration degree from the University of Michigan and is an active community volunteer, having served in a leadership capacity for many organizations, including the Ross School of Business Club of Southeast Michigan, Junior League of Ann Arbor, Washtenaw Elementary Science Olympiad, King Elementary PTO and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.


Robin Hembree has 20 years experience in human resources, currently serving as the Sr. Director of HR for the Thomson Tax & Accounting division of Thomson Corporation. Thomson is a leading global provider of integrated information-based solutions to business and professional customers (NYSE: TOC), with $6.6b in revenues and more than 30,000 employees. In her current role she has overall responsibility for developing and implementing strategic and tactical human resources initiatives.

Ms. Hembree held HR positions within a number of industries, including software, high tech, food services, and market research.  Recently she was a guest speaker on “The People Factor of Growth” at the CASRO 30th Annual Conference in Toronto, and a guest speaker for Eastern Michigan University’s Small Business Training Program, an outreach program sponsored by the Michigan Minority Business Development Council.

Ms. Hembree holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Michigan State University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
